One person told someone to immediately bring Dr. Mahendra Majumdar to the Belur Math. Swamis Premananda and Nischayananda started to recite Ramakrishna's name in the Swami's ears to bring him down from Samadhi.

Baikuntha Sanyal also came. Majumdar examined the body and saw the heart has stopped. He tried to artificially stimulate the heart. Majumdar informed the inmates that the Swamiji has passed away. His diagnosis was that stoppage of the heart caused the death of the Swami. Vivekananda lived 39 years 5 months and 24 days.

He has kept his word since he had told his intimates that he will not see About 3 months before his death 28 March the Swami told his disciple Nivedita that 'he has given everything that he could give. Now he will have to go'.

Two days before his death he told his intimates that the spiritual power in Belur will create a powerful movement for years. Three days before his death 1st July while walking the grounds of the Belur Math the Swami showed his disciples a spot on the beank of the Ganga and told them to cremate his body there. Sign up to join this community. During this period, he also suffered from gallstones, and acute diarrhoea. Later, during the same summer, he came down with typhoid and problems in the urinary tract.

His legacy did not end with his death in ; his most prominent disciple Swami Vivekananda carried on his teachings and philosophy to the world through Ramakrishna Mission.

In essence, his teachings were as traditional as ancient sages and seer, yet he remains contemporary throughout the ages. Vivekananda suffered from asthma and diabetes but was reportedly in good health on the day of his death. On July 4, , Swamiji woke up early and went to meditate at the Balur Math for three hours. He propagated it to the world through his lectures and practical lessons. He stressed the need to concentrate on the mind, which is a lamp that gives insight to every part of our soul.

Vivekananda defined meditation, first, as a process of self-appraisal of all thoughts to the mind.
