A common expression used daily by many New Zealanders. You may feel as though the persons just left you hangin '. S weet as what you wonder? It's not just 'sweet', it's 'sweet as', a better version. This means that everything's cool, good, great, superb, splendid. An overly-reputable city in New Zealand called Hamilton, 'City of the future'… apparently. When people talk about this, just laugh in response. Not to be confused with woman's underwear — pants are our version of 'trousers'.
One thing you'll learn in NZ is that some words can have the same meaning and pants refers to all things 'panty'.
I can understand why this is confusing to an outsider. What the hell is it?! Swimwear of course. So when you're on your way down to visit our shores in the summertime, remember t o bring the togs! Both are colloquial, loveable Kiwi icons. The Gumboot is not some type of gummy candy, it's simply your wellies or Wellington Boots to use the proper term. These videos are awesome!
These ads are fantastic… although amusingly enough in Western Australia the voiceover is changed for the togs vs undies ad. Very few people here call them togs so the voiceover guy calls them bathers on our ads.
Still trying to find this version online so I can send the link to friends. While previously known as a Drumstick, Peters WA lost the right to use this name as the east coast portion of their business was sold off. Drumsticks are also sold in WA but are a product of the sold of company who now import them in. I would assume Peters bought the rights to use the ad from Tip Top and made the word change for their audience. It scares me a little that I know all this information!!!
Can I just ask…. To answer your question. How do I download the commercial? Please reply and let me know — thank you!! I respect the right of establishments to make their own rules, but where none exist, what harm is done when a couple of teenagers walk in a mall in bikini tops?
Or if a kid gets an eyeful of a g-string-clad bottom at the beach? If nana sees a nipple feeding a baby in public? There's no harm, just judgy people working themselves into a lather over their own offence. I see things every day that I wish I didn't have to. Tacky lawn ornaments in my neighbourhood, for example.
